CT Scan (Computed Tomography)
A CT scan is a non-invasive, painless medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. CT imaging uses special x-ray equipment to produce multiple images of the inside of the body or head and a computer to join them together in cross- sectional views of the area being studied. The images or pictures can then be reviewed on a computer monitor by a Radiologist.

Our 64 Slice configuration breaks through previous boundaries in CT imaging, providing large volume, thin slice coverage to improve diagnostic confidence and image quality. Faster scanning time results in a reduction in motion, which also reduces artifacts and creates a clearer and more diagnostic image. The shorter scan lengths mean less discomfort and shorter breath holds for the patient. With this technology, our 64 slice scanner can gather high-resolution images of a heart, brain, liver or a pair of lungs in about five seconds.

When having a CT, you can expect to be on the table for about 10-15 minutes. Some exams may require a contrast medium to be administered to aid in strengthening the diagnosis. There is an oral contrast that is barium based you may have to drink one hour prior to getting your scan, and in addition to that, you may require an IV (intravenous) agent that may be administered while you are on the table.

Any exam that requires an injection of x-ray contrast requires that you have nothing to eat 4 hours and nothing to drink 2 hours before your exam; you may continue to take all prescribed medications. After the scan is complete, the radiologist will review the images and send a report of the diagnosis to your doctor.
