Preparation
In preparing for your MRI test:
You may eat normally prior to the scan and take any prescribed medications; except if you are having an MRCP/pancreas or MRI of the pelvis.
MRCP or magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography:
Nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to scheduled exam.
MRI of the Pelvis:
Nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to scheduled exam.
The force of our magnetic field can erase credit cards, alter calculators, watches, cellphones , and can attract magnetic objects if carried to close.
You will be asked to remove, jewelry, watches, wallets, dentures, cell phones, etc, along with any other loose objects.
These personal items can be secured in a locker.
You may be asked to change into scrubs or a gown, should your clothing contain any metal.
You may request sedation to help ease your anxiety if you are uncomfortable in a confined space.
In this case, you will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to appointment and have a driver with you.
